Recombinant SARS-CoV-2 Variant Proteins Launched

By 2021, the SARS-CoV-2 virus has evolved into fast-spreading variants that became known as variants of concern: UK variant B.1.1.7, South Africa variant B.1.351, and Brazil variant P.1. California variant B.1.427 & B.1.429, India variant B.1.617 or B.1.617.1–3, etc.

These variants present alterations in the spike protein that may increase transmissibility and virulence. Mutations in RBD of the spike are of high interest because they may severely affect viral replication and host immune response.
