grains, cereal products, cheese, and nuts.), which has a strong economic impact
for biotechnology, agricultural and food industries. Sterigmatocystin
has been classified in the group 2B (possibly carcinogenic to humans) by the
International Agency for Research on Cancer. Extensive studies have revealed
that strong positive correlations exist between the level of sterigmatocystin
pollution in foodstuffs and the incidence rate of gastric cancer. ELISA
